Named after the mythical bird from the great epic Ramayana, Jatayu is the eagle that tried to save Sita when she was abducted by Ravana. The world famous Jatayu Park opened its doors to visitors in late 2018. This massive project is still under construction and areas are being opened up only in stages. Located in Chadayamangalam, in the Kollam District of Kerala. For those visiting from the capital city Thiruvananthapuram, Alleppey or Varkala, it's a few hours drive.
Jatayu Earth's Center was a surreal experience. Had heard a lot about this marvel and decided to ride down when I was in Varkala. This masterpiece is the world's largest bird sculpture and took 10 years to get completed and is a tribute to women's safety and honor. The sculpture stands tall, and the panoramic views from the top and breathtaking!
A couple of kilometers away from the by lane to the entrance, this marvel stands tall and is unmissable! The infrastructure and security is top-notch, just as good as any of the international spots that tourists throng. There are 3 ways to reach the top, a winding footpath, cable car or a helicopter ride.
We opted for the cable car, a beautiful experience! As you climb up, the views are just splendid, and the grand sculpture welcomes you at the top.
The park also offers a host of adventure activities like rock climbing, rappelling and paintball. The zip lining and 6D museum are not yet open to public. With these views, that zip line is going to be a definite hit!
Honestly, just a visit to the park and nothing else, still worth your time and money!
The detailing on the sculpture, its sheer grandeur, and views from atop the park must be experienced! We were around for the sunset and that was one magical sight. The setting sun and the park lighting that followed, just beautiful. If you're around Kollam or nearby areas, this place has got to be on your list!
